During the design stage, the main target of the Jointed Claw Magnum was set to monster bass of the 60mm and 70mm class. After testing numerous prototypes, the body size was designed to be relatively large, over 20cm, which is the main bait for monster bass. This body size has a tremendous visual appeal, and its fish-attracting power exceeds that of the original Jointed Claw 178 model. On the other hand, the lure has surprisingly little vibration from its magnum-class body, and the Jointed Claw Magnum, which combines these opposing properties, allows wary monster bass to bite without feeling any discomfort. The action is a relaxed, wide S-shaped action like the Jointed Claw 178, and despite its magnum-class body size, it can be used like a soft bait, and it responds sensitively to rod work and line tension, allowing it to be used with a variety of techniques such as dead sticking, twitching, and jerking bottom stays.
