The basic ways to use metal jigs can be roughly divided into two categories: "just winding" and "jerking". This "stay fall" was developed with a focus on "jerking". There are various ways to "jerk", but the one I use most often and have caught is the "black panther jerk". Jerk three times (wind the reel three times as well) and let it fall, then jerk three times again and fall, repeating this process. This is a technique to get the fish interested in the jerk and make them bite with the fall.
